LA ROTTA
Sulla sponda sinistra del fiume Arno. La produzione dei mattoni, che ne ha costituito sino a pochi decenni fa la maggiore attività, ebbe inizio tra il X e il XII secolo. Nel 1840 La Rotta contava quattordici fornaci. Fino al 1790 non ebbe la propria parrocchia che attualmente è la chiesa di San Matteo. Posta vicino al centro abitato, la Villa Azzoni Avogadro-Carradori, (si veda in “ville”). Il Parco Fluviale La Fornace e Il Museo dei Mattonai. Il Parco Fluviale, Inaugurato nel 2005, è un area dotata di verde pubblico, con parco giochi e strutture per le attività al coperto. La Vecchia Fornace “Braccini fu Antonio” e l’ex Forno Hoffman sono l’ultima sede ad aver ospitato il lavoro e la tradizione dei mattoni, con la lavorazione dei mattoni fatti a mano. Di recente ospita il Museo dei Mattonai.
Museo dei Mattonai Della Rotta – Parco Fluviale – Nel vecchio forno Hoffmann. Visitabile esternamente da Maggio ad Ottobre. Internamente per le feste paesane. Una delle prime fornaci Hoffmann (a fuoco continuo) della zona venne impiantata a La Rotta nel 1872 da Francesco Capecchi. Per informazioni e visite Mob. 340.5309435.

On the left bank of the Arno river. The production of bricks, that was, until a few decades ago, the most important activity, started between the X and XII century. In 1840 La Rotta had fourteen kilns. Up to 1790 the village had not its own parish that now is the church of St. Matteo. Placed near the town, the Villa Azzoni Avogadro-Carradori, (see in “ville”). The River Park (Parco Fluviale) La Fornace and The Museum of brickmakers (Museo dei Mattonai). The River Park, opened in 2005, is a green public area with playground and facilities for indoor activities. The old kilns “Braccini fu Antonio” and the one of Oven Hoffman are the last seat to have hosted the work and the tradition of handmade bricks. Recently it houses the Museum of Brickmakers.
